The North Herts Guild of Singers is a happy and successful choir which has been going strong for more than 50 years. Based in Hitchin, we are one of the best-known and best-supported choirs in the area.

The choir has now been back rehearsing live for three full terms and has held four successful post-pandemic concerts.

We were delighted to welcome a number of guest singers at our special celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, a full day workshop of Mozart's stunning Coronation Mass alongside three other Coronation Anthems.

It proved to be a wonderful, rousing day of singing ending in a full sing-through with four up and coming young soloists, Rachel Ridout, Louise Wood, Robert Folkes and Samuel Morton-Morris. The day was led by our own Harry Bradford, an exceptional prize-winning conductor rapidly making a name for himself. As a young chorister Harry sang with the Chapel Royal Choir and still sometimes joins them on special Royal occasions - including the service for the Jubilee!

Our Next Concert

Judging from the uproarious applause at the end of our Gilbert & Sullivan/opera choruses concert on Saturday July 9, the audience at St Mary's in Ashwell enjoyed it as much as we did! Harry and Colin were on top form (squeaky piano keys notwithstanding) and our three soloists - Tamsin Raitt, Hannah Bennett and Samuel Kibble - were simply outstanding. Congratulations also to Guild members Bob Beasley and Hannah Shaw for their solo contributions to a great fun evening.

'A fantastic summer concert, the choir brought colour to the songs, a fun and challenging repertoire which brought  big smiles to everyone in the audience. Fabulous!' (audience member).

The mood for our next concert will be a little more sombre - Mozart's Requiem and Solemn Vespers, to be performed at St Mary's, Hitchin on November 5.
