NORTH HERTS GUILD OF SINGERS

We are a happy and successful choir which has been going strong for nearly 60 years. Based in Hitchin, we are one of the best-known and best-supported choirs in the area.

WORKSHOP MAGIC

Music director Harry Bradford worked his magic at another of our popular workshops on Saturday October 17th, taking a near-record attendance through the choruses of Parts 1, 2, 3 and 6 of Bach's Christmas Oratorio ahead of our December concert.

Sixty-five Guild members and twenty-four guests filled Christchurch in Hitchin for a morning of demanding but satisfying music-making. The occasional chorale - the personal favourites of Harry and our brilliant-as-ever accompanist Colin Spinks - offered a change of pace and we were given plenty of time to socialise, browse at the pre-loved music sale and eat cake.

As always on these occasions, we enjoyed a major boost in confidence levels and sound quality under Harry's patient and expert instruction. Grateful thanks to him, Colin and the team of behind-the-scenes helpers who made the morning so successful.

We are breaking a tradition this year - there will be no concert in November but there is still plenty to look forward to. We will be singing Bach's Christmas Oratorio in December and we have Elgar's Dream of Gerontius planned for spring.
