The North Herts Guild of Singers is a happy and successful choir which has been going strong for more than 50 years. Based in Hitchin, we are one of the best-known and best-supported choirs in the area.

This autumn we worked on Joseph Haydn’s famously buoyant oratorio ‘Creation’.

We had pre-recorded learning tracks created by professional singers just for us, live Thursday night rehearsals with sectionals, and music laid down on piano by our accompanist Colin Spinks.

On the Saturday night for which we had planned a real concert we had a virtual concert, with the solos specially recorded for us. We also recorded one of the choruses, which can be found under About/Listen. We hope you like it!

We are currently rehearsing for our Christmas Concert online and planning for the spring term.

WHy not come to one of our concerts?

We hope to be back singing and performing before too long. Our original programme has had to change. In March we were to sing Bach's great work, the B Minor Mass, accompanied by a baroque orchestra and some fine young soloists. It may be we'll have another go at that before too long. July was to bring Rossini's Petite Messe Solonelle (with piano and harmonium). We are now hoping to be able to have some sort of performance at Christmas.

In the meantime, the choir are having weekly online sessions with our MD and our accompanist. We are still together as a choir and learning new ways of making music until we can sing together in the same place.
