Combining dazzling displays of fluid counterpoint and beautiful melodic lines within a rich and varied harmonic palate, Bach’s monumental B Minor Mass is one of the great masterpieces of the Western music canon.
We are fortunate to be joined by a brilliant quartet of soloists, who are all students or alumni of the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, and to be accompanied the wonderful period instrument ensemble, Musica Donum Dei.
Our soloists are Helena Moore, Sarah Anne Champion, Benjamin Durrant and Humphrey Thompson. We are being conducted by our wonderful new Music Director, Harry Bradford, and are looking forward to performing alongside our friends Musica Donum Dei once again. The beautiful setting of historic St Mary's Church in the centre of Hitchin will add to the atmosphere.
In February we enjoyed a Workshop, along with visitors from other choirs, where we learnt about baroque phrasing and styling. With Harry's help we hope to offer a fresh and authentic experience of the Mass.
