Concert instructions for April 2019

St Mary’s Church Hitchin, Saturday 6 April, 7.30pm

Rehearsal 2.30 to 4.30pm. Please be in the body of the church by 2.10. We are going to have a short ceremony to 'open' our new staging. Section leaders will then call people up to the staging. Let your section leaders know in advance if you have any particular seating needs. The rehearsal will continue after we finish, so leave swiftly and quietly.

Concert Dress Men to wear black shirts and trousers. Ladies to wear black tops with long or ¾ length sleeves, with long black skirts or trousers. Choir scarves will be worn, straight, available from Pat Salmon. Black folders will be used (available to hire or buy the Thursday before the concert), or you can cover your books in black paper.

Assemble for the concert by 7.15. Sopranos and Tenors in the chapel behind organ and Altos and Basses in the chapel behind the pulpit. Basses and Tenors lead in, filling up centre of staging. Ladies use centre or outer ends of rows as appropriate. Please carry folders towards the audience. Sit when you arrive in your place. Stand when Stephen appears – designated people will lead the standing. Please take care – there are many trip hazards. Remember we always have at least one first aider present, at concerts and rehearsals.
Sits and stands please follow Stephen.

Applause Remain standing until Stephen leaves rostrum, and then sit. Applaud only when seated. Stephen may return if applause continues.
Interval This is at the end of Part On

At the end of the concert
, when Stephen has taken his last bow, front rows of ladies lead off from outer ends; rest file out from centre of staging.
After the concert please make sure you return your books and hired folders to the boxes placed by the librarian. It will be much appreciated by our stage team if you can stay and help clear up – many hands make light work.
