Concert Instructions, Christmas 2019

St Mary’s Church Hitchin, Saturday 14th December, 7.30pm

Rehearsal 2.00pm to 4.30pm

Be in the body of the church by 1.45pm. Section leaders will then call people up to the staging. Let your section leaders know in advance if you have any particular seating needs. Please arrive and depart as quietly as possible. Before the rehearsal begins, section leaders and the stage manager will check that everyone is in a suitable place and may move people. The staging and choir seating will be arranged in a similar fashion to the November concert.

Concert Dress

Men to wear red bow ties (or other accessories) with black suits/DJs and white shirts. Ladies to wear red tops, or red scarves, red jewellery or other red accessories with long black skirts or trousers. The red tops should be plain with long or 3/4 length sleeves. If you don’t wish to wear red, the alternative is black suits/DJs, white shirts and black bow ties for the men, and long black skirts or trousers and black tops with long or ¾ length sleeves for the ladies. Blue scarves will not be worn. Black folders will be used (available to hire or buy the Thursday before the concert), or you can back your books in black paper.

Mince Pies

Please bring mince pies to the rehearsal (to serve in the interval) and leave them at the back of the church.

Concert

Please be ready by 7.15pm for warm up. You will have been told the wing of the church in which you are to assemble during rehearsal. Sit when you arrive in your place. Stand when Harry appears.
Please take care – there are many trip hazards. Remember we always have at least one first aider present, at concerts and rehearsals. Please report any potential trip hazards to the Concert Manager.
Remain standing until Harry leaves the rostrum, and then sit. Applaud only when seated. Harry may return if applause continues. At the end of the concert, when Harry has taken his last bow, lead off as appropriate.
Sit before organ solos and stand when they are completed. Harry will indicate.

After the concert

Please make sure you return your books and any hired folders. It will be much appreciated by our stage team if you can stay and help clear up although you will be aware that our new staging requires delicate handling and therefore please defer to a member of the stage crew when helping.
